Belinda blushed a little and smiled as Etienne walked away. “What is it with you french men? Making me blush!” She joked, watching as Terrance began his meal. Belinda leaned forward and grabbed her water, sipping it before placing it back down next to her plate, keeping her eyes on Terrance.
“How did I manage it?” She asked, tilting her head to the side. “How did I deserve you? You’re…perfect. Not like the others I’ve known.” She found herself reaching for him again, not able to keep her skin from touching his, but as she outstretched her hand she tried to steady her water only causing her to knock it over her dress and all down the front of her. “Oh god!”
“It is in our blood,” Terrance said with a wink. “The first words we learn are ‘mon amour’ and ‘enchante’. Romance runs in our veins.”
He was caught between blushing and laughing as the water spilled, quickly standing to help her clean up. “Oh, ma petite bichette. I cannot tease you for this, I understand how you must be feeling. Far too love struck to notice your surroundings.” He knelt in front of her, making sure not to let his hands go anywhere inappropriate as he cleaned her up. “No harm, Belinda, it will dry right up, I am sure…”
.
#oh damn I totally thought I was waiting on you #sorry!
Belinda listened to him talk away, his accent caressing the way he spoke the language that was foreign to him. She leaned on her hand as he spoke of his mother, shooting him a smile that she held only for him. A little pang tickled her tummy as she thought of meeting his parents. She’d have to learn at least a little french before then.
“Well, it can’t be any worse than the first time you met my parents,” she admitted as the waiter returned with their food. The smell from the plate, made Belinda’s mouth water as she picked up her fork.
“Thanks, Etienne,” she said, wafting the odor of the food closer to her nose. “If the food is anything like this in France, we might have to consider moving there.”
“Belinda, you must not worry so about your parents,” Terrance said, eyes serious. “They had been through a horrible ordeal. I cannot say I blame them for reacting the way they did.” He reached over, stroking her cheek. “They will learn to love me. I will do everything in my power to win them over. They are important to you, oui? I will make sure it works out.”
“You should, mademoiselle,” Etienne said with a wink. “You are far too pretty for this sleepy little town. Bon appetit!”
